DAVID’S BIRTHDAY (15)

This gritty gay drama from Denmark takes on some extremely fiery topics in its story of a gay guy (the superb Thure Lindhardt) who joins a neo-Nazi group and challenges their homophobic, racist attitudes from inside. He also falls in love with his mentor, and their relationship heads in some pretty scary directions as they worry about their volatile colleagues finding out about them. It’s a raw and unnerving film, gorgeously shot and edited in an intensely personal way that adds depth to the characters and situations. And the central relationship is very sexy. (TLA). 8/10
