FINDING ME: TRUTH (15)

This multi-strand romance is set in the black subculture of greater New York City, where sexy young Faybien (RayMartell Moore) is trying to get over his ex while his friends struggle with other issues. Filmmaker Roger Omeus ambitiously explores several big issues, but the clunky direction, wobbly acting and overwrought moralising make it difficult to stay engaged. And the characters are somewhat cliched, from sex-mad bisexual to queeny muscle-boy to sassy hag. Still, amid the mix of comedy and melodrama, there are some solid observations and amusing scenes. Plus rather a lot of hunky, often shirtless men (TLA). 5/5
