SOHO PINK SUNDAY

18/09/11: We know what you’re thinking – how can Soho get any pinker? Well Sunday saw Old Compton Street and its surrounds catapult even further down the cerise scale for the second annual Soho Pink Sunday.

There was a raft of fun events, as a huge number of gay bars, clubs and businesses pulled together to raise a boatload of cheer and bucketfuls of cash for various charities, such as the Albert Kennedy Trust and the Elton John AIDS Foundation.

It all kicked off with the 3pm Drag Race, a tranny run around Soho where some of the best-known cocks in frocks that Soho has to offer shimmied around the street in six-inch heels.

There was even a ‘pit stop’ courtesy of Circa, but instead of water, the runners freshened up with vodka shots. Afterwards, bears, twinks, fashionistas, skinheads, screaming queens, muscle Mary’s and everyone else in between came together for the mother of all bar hops.

A plethora of shirt-free porn stars and gogos pitched up at The Edge and Yard, pink shots were downed at Village, Freedom and G-A-Y Bar, whilst the blokey Soho contingent partied at Kings Arms, Duke of Wellington, Admiral Duncan and a delightfully pink coated Comptons.

Trendy hangouts Profile and Balans were teeming with preened hotties, as Shadow Lounge had a distinctly Asian feel with a special night ‘Does Your Mother Know’.

There was also pumping DJ action at two ram-packed venues, with a house flavour at Rupert Street and an alternative pop vibe in ‘Slut Machine’ at Circa.

Well done to everyone involved. Soho, you truly outdid yourself last weekend!
