THE COST OF LOVE (18)

From first-time filmmaker Carl Medland, this beautifully shot British movie has an intriguing mix of jagged comedy and internalised drama.

It centres on 28-year-old Greenwich escort Dale (Christopher Kelham) who walks on the dark side, role-playing with his mostly older-man clients and worrying about what will happen to his career when he hits 30.

Meanwhile, his best mate (Valmike Rampersad) is getting married, which is a problem because Dale has a secret crush on him. Filmmaker Medland inventively blurs the lines between what’s actually happening and what Dale is imagining. Which makes it eerily involving. (Peccadillo). 8/10
