SWISH WHAT YOUR MOMMA GAVE YA

What are YOU doing on World AIDS Day?

Fancy sashaying down Old Compton Street with London’s most outrageous scenesters in a parade of colour and character with the intention of celebrating life, as well as remembering those we have lost to AIDS?

With Soho going ‘RED’ for the day to raise awareness of the increasing rates of HIV in our community, Stewart Who? has organised the AIDS Swish, a street carnival of remembrance, pride and community. The Swish also signals the start of all the events occurring in the bars for Soho Red Thursday.

“We’re here and we care, not just about ourselves, but each other”.

The idea is simple; as a community, we dress up like we mean to party, then SWISH down Old Compton Street in colourful acknowledgement that we enjoy and respect life.

The AIDS Swish is an affirmation – we’re here and we care, not just about ourselves, but each other. It is also being staged to help raise awareness for the allocation of a permanent AIDS memorial in London.

• AIDS Swish
Junction of Moor Street/Old Compton Street (near Ed’s Diner), Soho
Thursday 1st December, 6pm

• Here’s how to SWISH
• The Swish starts at 6pm at the junction of Moor Street and Old Compton Street (Ed’s Diner)
• Turn up on time! Dress as you like – in full drag or your regular day or night wear, just be there! Bring glow ticks, feather boas or flags if you fancy!
• The parade then makes its way down Old Compton Street with a post-Swish finish at Lo-Profile, where there’ll be a surprise performance, a keynote speaker and a celebratory drink.
• At 8pm, to signify the completion of The Swish, all the bars in Soho will play Gloria Gaynor’s ‘I Will Survive’.
