HALFWAY II HEAVEN 21st BIRTHDAY

Halfway II Heaven always has a special place in our hearts, not just ‘cos we’ve spent many a ridiculously fun drunken night there, but because whenever we go, we always receive the warmest welcome imaginable… not just reserved for rancid old hacks like me, everyone gets the ‘welcome to the family’ treatment here.

This weekend the notoriously booze-lovin’ H2H massive outdid themselves both in campery and drunkery – but also with the array of stellar entertainment they had on. For a bar that’s half the size of some on our fair gay scene, they don’t half pack a mean cabaret punch!

On the Saturday, Rose Garden wowed with her brilliant Saturday Market/Swapshop, an afternoon stormer under the guise of exchanging trinkets and goodies just like the old BBC kids show, but what increasingly turns into a raucous day of songs, laughs and shocks galore. Honestly, we can’t even print some of the shenanigans that went on downstairs last weekend – but it was all extremely good fun.

This soon lapsed into Myra Dubois and her evening of funnage. Myra is one of our fave cockfrockers and we cherish every time we see her cracking wise and givin’ it northern strumpet.

On Sunday, the punters and performers showed no signs of weariness, despite a mammoth party the day before. We caught the gorgeous lil’ McDiva Mary Mac wowing the crowd with a medley of pop tunes, whilst the always-brilliant Mrs Moore soldiered on and delivered another winning set, despite a gammy foot.

In attendance were the joyous Bette Rinse, gorgeous Tanya Hyde, hilarious Baga Chipz and the very much underrated Morag McDuff, who brings a sense of theatre and warmth both on and off stage.

We also had a ridiculous cackle with Trindy and lovely new manager Angel, who has worked up the ranks to take the reins of this legendary venue. All was superbly held together by Crystal d’Canter, who kocked backed less shots than we’ve ever seen her do. Are you all right, dear? 😉

Halfway II Heaven is probably some of the best fun you can have at the weekend, and if you haven’t been to this friendly local boozer in the heart of the West End, then you’re missing a treat! Get down, and we’ll see you at the bar for a Jägerbomb! J’adore!
