LITTLE JEMMS

Neil Sexton and Debbie Ryan, affectionately dubbed N-Debz by their listeners, are gay Britain’s favourite breakfast duo and they’re back on air with Jemm One, the UK’s brand new dance and pop music station

If you really want to stay up close and personal with everything that is Gay UK then N-Debz is a must listen.

Yes, Britain’s favourite breakfast duo Neil and Debbie are back on air, this time with a brand new interactive entertainment network. It’s a welcome return for the comedy couple who gained a big army of followers when they used to host the breakfast show on GaydarRadio.

And just where would they be without them asks Debbie, doyen of the early morning Jemm Radio chat room which buzzes with all the latest natter, showbiz news and all the hottest gay headlines.

“It’s the audience that makes the show really,” says Debbie. “The best mornings are when me and Neil are mulling things over, just between ourselves and the nation like you do, when the smallest little comment triggers a flood of messages, tweets and texts, which just take the conversation to a whole different level.”

“One guy called up and said he lived with a man and a woman, and he was having a ménage a trois!

An example? “One morning we were discussing ‘who do you live with?’ There had been something on the news about how much the British family has changed so we just thought we’d throw it out there. Well, one guy called up and said he lived with a man and a woman, and he was having a ménage a trois!

“After that, we received call after call from all these people saying ‘Well I can beat that!’ It was just brilliant. That show was like putting a microscope on the gay community. It just takes someone to open their mouth and that opens the flippin’ floodgates.

Of course, occasionally Neil finally gets a word in between Debbie’s crazy natterings, “We get to talk really honestly and openly about lots of things that you wouldn’t dare be able to talk about on ‘normal radio’.”

He continues, “We’re just not like all those dull stations out there churning out the same old ‘Here’s your favourite hits that you’ve heard in the last 20 minutes played once again.’

“The magic of our show is that tuning in is like taking part in a real life soap opera with everyone pitching in to crowd source the best ideas and the best solutions. With funny bits, which will laugh you out of bed and make you feel fabulous as well of course. After all a problem aired is a problem shared. And that’s what we do best.”

The showbiz duo are now looking forward to a summer of fun packed with news and special reports from the top music festivals, all of the Prides that are coming up and plenty of live, red carpet show business.

“There’s so much happening,” says Debbie. “What with the Great Gatsby coming out, Lady Gaga’s new album, Lovebox, the Pride season and Cher moving to London. Now that last bit may require a bit of N-Debz stalking. It really is going to be totally full on.”
