Rio Grande!

G-A-Y Porn Idol continues its run of RuPaul’s Drag Race guest judges with Bianca Del Rio! UK drag terrorist Meth hooked up with her this week to talk wigs and wickedness…

Poppers, Meth, or Alcohol?

I’m alcohol, but I’ve done poppers and meth. They’re a little more entrancing, you know like it takes a little more… But I like alcohol. Alcohol’s the best way to get off.

I love how everybody has taken this really seriously. This question is entirely for my own ego: I’m expecting you all to say Meth.

Well, I don’t like the person and I don’t like the drug.

You sold out four shows at the Meth Lab in literally under an hour and then you went on to sell out in Glasgow and Dublin. This is literally the biggest buzz that’s surrounded a Drag Race queen coming to the UK. How are you finding the reaction from UK fans?

First of all, I didn’t know if you were watching the show over here, or knowing it to the extent that people do in America – I always thought all the diehard fans were in America. To find it over here is quite lovely, and the fact that everybody understands me and gets my sense of humour is amazing. That was the one thing I was terrified about. Or if people think it’s too racy in person – but they like it, they actually want me to be racier, which is good.

Were you as unsurprised as the rest of the world when you won RuPaul’s Drag Race?

I was surprised. And I know people are going to think that that’s full of shit but you really don’t know what they’re going to do. Did I feel like I did a good job? Yes. But I also knew it’s a TV show. I knew that they could do whatever they wanted. It’s Ru’s decision.

Your best and your worst moments during Drag Race?

One of my favourite moments was getting to know Trinity K Bonet through that process. I didn’t understand where her angst was coming from. And then when we found out what was going on it was very special to me, because as you know from the show, I had a friend that I had lost, so it was kind of like what I couldn’t do for my friend then, I could do for her there, in a much smaller way.

The worst part was the way that I handled things with Laganja Estranga. It was rough to watch. My reaction wasn’t in hate. My reaction was that I was over it. In that moment I have to take responsibility for what I said and did, but I probably would have handled it better now, or in a different setting.

If you had the chance to read anybody, dead, alive or fictional, who would it be and what would you say?

Oh wow, that’s a tough one… Y’know, I don’t know.  Well I think it’s funny, tonnes of people on Twitter are constantly saying “Read me! Read me” and I always say it’s not just the actual words that you use, it’s your inflection and when you use it. It’s having the right thing to say at the right time that’s the key to reading.

What is the most quintessentially British thing you can think of?

Oh, tea! We had tea together, I love tea.

What will you be looking for from the G-A-Y Porn Idol contestants?

I’m looking for stamina, obviously looks. If you wanted to see ugly people fuck you’d look at your own life. I’m not really a size queen, but if you’ve got a small dick you need to be a real good bottom.

Your favourite genre of porn?

Free! I don’t care what it is as long as it’s free.
