Thursdays at Vogue Fabrics

This month the gorgeously trashy, sequin-spattered disco bathtub that is Vogue Fabrics has a new Thursday night schedule tighter than Johnny Rapid’s jeans, so we took a look at what’s in store at the hottest haberdashery in East London.

This week sees Radical People editor Reba Maybury’s Election special, on May 7th. Think Sam Cam vomiting up Bacardi Breezer in Chicken Cottage. There’s gonna be election electro and political pop from good old Jeffrey Hinton and upcoming scenesters Disco Smack. There’s also going to be a live PA by Sayeeda Warsi, who will be launching her debut studio album “The Baroness”. We wish. It’s 12am-3am, £5 entry. £4 if you bring your poll card. All proceeds will be going to Shelter (the homeless charity, not the nightclub in Haggerston).

Then on the 14th it’s the launch of Trash Fashion, a new night for fash mag slags and struggling students. It’s free before 11pm or £3 after with an NUS card. They’re promising cheap hookers, cheap rent, cheap girls and a free plastic tumbler of ‘bin juice’.

On May 21st CHARIZA kicks off a kaleidoscopic mix of Thursday art openings at Vogue Fabrics over the coming months. Chariza works with emerging and underrepresented artists in fashion, music and art. Something that is genuinely vital in our increasingly grey, Pret-A-Manger fuelled, X Factor ruled world. FKA Twigs, Charli XCX and Chloe Sevigny will all be there. Well, that’s not confirmed. But you never know.

Then there’s more artsy action on the 28th with OTHER. They’re showcasing three promising young artists; James Burgess, Olivia Savage and Camilla Perkins. There will be a range of pieces for sale at fashion student prices. There’ll also be drinks and music of course. And ice cream. They wanted us to really push that. They were determined for EVERYONE to know. Ice cream, ice cream, ice cream, all night!

Vogue Fabrics has become about much more than Aaliyah remixes and sucking someone’s face in the kissing booth. It’s about politics. It’s about cultural expression through art and music. It’s the revolution!
