Are You The Next Miss Trash?

It’s BACK this weekend.

Aficionados of all things kitsch and queer, Lady Olé, are celebrating their first birthday on Saturday 1st April and they’re holding a Miss Trash beauty pageant! Or a Certamen Miss Mamarracha, if you’re feeling a little less Brexit about it.

They’re on the lookout for a contestant who embodies the Lady Olé essence, celebrating British and Spanish camp tackiness. Think peeling sunburn emerging out of the edges of a silver lamé halter neck bikini top, sangria stains on a New Look kimono, or those braids your sister always used to get in her hair when you went to Mallorca, which looked faintly ridiculous by the time you had flown back to the Midlands. Whatever it is, go ALL OUT.

If you think there’s a Miss Mamarracha that’s dying to break free from within you, then you can apply to take to the stage! Gender is, of course, irrelevant, plus there’s a £50 and bottle of champagne prize for the winner. Tempted? Well, get in touch on the Lady Olé Facebook page before the end of March with your name and a song, and you’ll get your chance to shine!

As well as that, there’ll be the usual queer pop party sounds from Los Alejandros and Tay Arín, so expect one of the most unapologetically fun nights you can find in all of London. Feliz Cumpleaños!

• Lady Olé – 1st Birthday: Miss Trash Contest is on Saturday 1st April at Kolis Nightclub (Archway Tavern), 1 Archway Close, N19 3TD, 11pm-4am, tickets only available on the door.
