The Soho Theatre are showcasing some of their best acts in a kaleidoscopically camp fundraiser

Located in all its neon finery in the middle of Dean Street, Soho Theatre has an illustrious reputation for giving a leg-up to some of the best alternative theatre shows and comedians out there. It was where Phoebe Waller-Bridge put the early incarnation of Fleabag on before it blew up into a critically acclaimed TV series. Luisa Omielan has had seven sell-out runs for her What Would Beyoncé Do?! show, while established stand-ups like Harry Hill and Michael MacIntyre continue to flock back there to try out new material. Plus, it has a long record of putting on a range of polished and hilarious LGBT+ shows, from Drag Race winner Jinkx Monsoon’s musical jaunt with Major Scales to drag girl group Denim’s recently concluded, Soho-confined World Tour.

However, they need YOUR help so they can continue to find hidden talent and give them the chance to put on innovative and inventive shows. On Thursday 15th March, they’re putting on their annual Alternative Gala Party to raise funds for young people and emerging artists. They’re taking over every floor of the building, with performances coming from names who hold the venue close to their hearts, including funnyman poet Tim Key, award-winning stand-up Bridget Christie, Iceland’s biggest comedian Ari Eldjarn, New Zealand newcomer Rose Matafeo, and surreal drag-clown Dina Martina, who is currently over from Seattle with a run of her Crème de la Dregs show until Saturday 17th March. As well as that, tickets include free drinks and nibbles, with an afterparty following on into the night with a bit of dancing and Soho-style decadence! Tickets start from £29.50 and come with plenty of other perks, so dig deep and lend a hand to a London institution.

Soho Theatre Alternative Gala is on Thursday 15th March, 7pm, tickets £29.50-£95 from sohotheatre.com
