#JULIASAYS – Discerning scene musings of the princess of East London!

When somebody tells you not to do something, are you the sort of person who does exactly the opposite? I am I’m afraid – mind you, nowadays I do weigh up the pros and cons before I commit. I mean, you don’t want to be doing something utterly ridiculous just because you were told not to do it. There’s something to be said for learning to say no on occasion!

On Thursday 24th May, get yourselves down to the ICA for some in-depth intellectual insightfulness. Queers Read This, hosted by Pilot Press’s Richard Dodwell, from 7pm-9pm, is where a series of texts will be aired live from guest readers like Timothy Thornton, Issabel Waldner and Joanna Walsh.

Friday 25th, it’s Kylie 50 – Iconic Cabaret Special at The Glory from 8pm is John Sizzle’s homage in the Kylie Lounge where Rudi Douglas, Tayce, Jacob Aria, Cissy, Oberon White and John Sizzle put on a show of iconic proportions! Then carry on till 2am with a 2 floor Kylie Party till 2am!

We’re all for breaking the rules! Head to Clash Bash no.4 ~ Sexy Shapes at Dalston Superstore on Friday 25th May and abandon yourselves till 4am. DJs TeTe Bang, Lewis G Burton, Jacqui Potato, A Boy from Outer Space and DJ Sindri.

Really such a cult night; Lobotomy Room Dance Party is on Friday 25th May at Fontaine’s Bamboo Lounge from 10pm till 1:30am. Free to get in and dance – drink cocktails to a soundtrack inspired by Divine and John Waters movies. Hosted by Mondo Trash lover himself Graham Russell.

It’s all melting at Bank Holiday Meltdown at Sedition on Saturday 26th, with AHMD (Anal House Meltdown). It’s the iconic night of pumping beats from expert artist DJs Prem Sahib, George Henry Longly and Eddie Peak with special guest Nelson Beer and a new back room HEAD from 11pm till 6am. 

Those energetic MEAT BOYS present meat at Dalston Superstore on Saturday 26th! It’s a cult zine and club night, with DJs The meat boys, Cozette Vs Princess Julia, Nic Fischer, Chaka Khan’t, Oren Mazam and Synth System Systers over two floors till 4am!

Blimey… it’s WUT? CLUB: Bank Holiday Sunday Special on Sunday 27th and that’s on at Dalston Superstore too!!!! Maje DJ dress up action with FKA, Alexis Knox, Jonathan Bestley, Georgie Bee and A S O L U T E b2b with Wax Wings all night till 5am in the basement!

A chance to indulge yourselves vinyl lovers…Make Your Own Kind of Music Presents: Favourite Things at The Queen Adelaide on Sunday 27th May. This where you get the chance to DJ and bring three tracks of your choice (on vinyl) and sling them on all night long! The Queen Adelaide basement goes on till real late!!!

Almost a festival with an actual afternoon outdoor meet (weather permitting) from 3.30pm in Clissold Park, with a rave up from 8.30 at VFD, Sunday Funday FUN in the SUN + Colour Cave RAVE! with Maxi More is on Sunday 27th. Expect a wonderful array of collective wonderfulness with the flamboyant Sunday Funday family as part of the Femmetopia fest!

So many things going on! Who said there was nothing to do? Not me! Get this at the QUEER BALL on Sunday 27th May at Bethnal Green Workings Men’s Club from 8pm till 2am. It’s got a bit of a retro theme with 50s and 60s drag encouraged and music played from those eras on vinyl taking over! DJs Nikki Lucas, Dapper D and Miss Chazmatazz. There’s a walk off too from 10pm and it’s hosted by Stav B and Yvonne Taylor.

Gay rave alert at Chapter 10, which is back on Sunday 27th with Dan Beaumont and Charlie Porter at Bloc. Autumn Street in Hackney Wick starting 11pm till beyond dawn. Beats, butts, drag and dance in this cult warehouse rave where you can let yourself go in a hot mess!
