#JULIASAYS – Discerning scene musings from the princess of East London!

Princess Julia

It’s never too late to change the direction of your life, try something different and give something you’ve always dreamed of doing a go. There are no rules to tell you you can’t do things at different times of your life.

So if you’re thinking ‘Oh I always wanted to try drag, be a DJ or own a pub’ or anything else for that matter, my advice is to just go for it!

Soul Attic on Thursday 30th August with Fred Mann and Ronnie King at Farr’s School of Dancing is a free night of Northern Soul, with rarities actually played on vinyl. Fancy dancing and marvellous energy from two of the most passionate DJs I’ve ever met!

Then it’s a change of mood with Felix Le Freak: I Want Your Love starring in a show at The Glory from 7:30pm on Friday 31st. Le Freak ponders the tribulations of love, relationships and self-acceptance with this experimental theatre piece, encompassing original songs, comedy and lip sync.

Afterwards MEAT takes over The Glory from 10pm till 3am, launching their NAKED 2019 pinup calendar full of hot hunks for every month of the year. I’ll be joining the DJ roster with Cozette in the bar, while The Meat Boys spin out tunes in the basement with Adrian and Fannar. Plus, personal appearances from the actual models featured in their amazing calendar!

MegaLast is at Dalston Superstore on Friday 31st August, with the DJ talents of Object Blue, Jasper Jarvis, NI-KU, J. Aria and Samantha, who bring it on with the hottest sound art and techno blasts! 10pm till 3am. Expect the purest of rave-ups!

Pinch & punch first day of the month…Saturday 1st September the notorious Femmetopia is back at VFD from 9pm onwards with a gig from ACM ‘a cinematic masterpiece’ who play ‘super galactic, operatic punk’ at 10pm after which the night carries on with resident DJ and founder Kat Hudson and special guests.

If you haven’t heard by now you might have missed a chance to get on board the annual Gay Bingo Boat Party setting sail at 1:30pm on Sunday 2nd September from Temple Pier. Jonny Woo, John Sizzle and Ma Butcher reform for this yearly experience and it’s hilarious! Free after party at The Glory with me too!

The Gay Bingo Trinity
