Pack up your glitter mesh tops and rainbow boxers, Manchester Pride is just around the corner! There are very few events in the gay British calendar which are as paramount as Manchester Gay Pride. It’s home to the UK’s largest gay village so they know exactly what they’re doing when it comes to doing pride right. And it looks as though they’ve outdone themselves again this year! With what is sure to be a non-stop, balls to the wall, hands grabbing your ankles, wild weekender, coming our way is four days jam-packed of parties and performances. Be sure you don’t miss this one.
This year’s Parade theme is The Circus of Acceptance, so expect clownery, tomfoolery and roguery. Feathers and pinstripes galore! You’re not likely to see a lion-tamer at this circus, but you’re welcome to come and try taming a bear or two. Be you a bearded lady, a strong man or acrobat, there’s room for all to come and let their freak flag fly. It’s the perfect opportunity to practice your contortionism… Hopefully, much like an actual circus you’ll end up under a Big Top.
As part of the festivities The Big Festival will be playing host to a whole range of the hottest pop acts, with Rita Ora headlining. You know Rita never lets us down. Joining her will be Scissor Sister Jake Shears, serving his unique brand of kooky queerness. Also coming along is X Factor winner Alexandra Berk, Louise and Nadine Coyle of Girls Aloud and pronouncing “flour” fame. Riveting!
All of your favourite Manchester bars and clubs will be playing host to their own range of Pride celebrations. From Official Openings, all night Saturday raves, to Post Pride Closing parties.
