#JULIASAYS – Discerning scene musings from the princess of East London!

Princess Julia

This week, I’ve got a few fantastic things planned for you! First it’s True Blue, hosted and presented by the one and only Kevin Le Grand at The Karaoke Hole up in Dalston, 95 Kingsland Road to be exact. 9pm ‘til 2am on Thursday 20th September. Le Grand looks to the 80s for inspiration, and encourages you to sing your hearts out to the decade’s soundtrack of pure camp hits. An 80’s themed karaoke night – I’m so going!

Plus, every Sunday at the Karaoke Hole there’s a competition going on; The K Factor, hosted by Rhys’s Pieces, where there’s a midnight ‘sing off’ to decide the weekly winner. If you do win, there’s a tidy £100 in the kitty that could be yours! 8pm ‘til 1am every Sunday.

Rhys’s Pieces

And I’m back! At Disco Hit Machine at The Cock Tavern, Kennington Road on Friday 21st September, where I join Josh Quinton from Disco Smack for a Friday night full of your fave tunes! We’ll be playing all sorts from all decades dears, in this fabulous south London pub.

Lovers of The Cave Club are in for a treat on Friday 21st at Dalston’s The Moth Club. This is a real cult night, where DJs Spider Webb (The Horrors) and Telegram Sam (Telegram) are playing all kinds of psyched-out grooves.  ‘Fuzz, Acid, Flowers’, that’s where it’s at. Get in the mood from 11pm ‘til 4am.

This rather inventive and surprising night, DEEP TRASH Escoria at The Bethnal Green Working Men’s Club on 22nd September, combines music, performance and art. This time around there are Latin themes running through the night. DJ Alejandro and DJ Neiva play the best and trashiest Spanish dance, while DJ Smaragda plays trans*national music Spanish style. From 8pm ‘til 2am everyone.

DEEP TRASH

Don’t forget SOS – Soul On Saturday at The Eagle this Saturday 22nd where from 8pm till 4am Terry T-Rex and Jeanie Crystal play the ever-so-soulful tunage!

Fancy some queer indie disco? Then head over to Pink Glove at The Chateau, 29-33 Camberwell Church Street on Saturday 22nd September. DJs Heidi Heelz and Seductive Barry hit the decks with the ultimate indie selection from 9pm ‘til 3am.

THIS! Bottom Heavy Vol II (‿ˠ‿) with DJs Wes Baggaley & Dan Beaumont going B2B on Saturday 22nd at Dalston Superstore. Expect a really amazing night of proper lovely dance music up and down. In the bar, DJs Goldsnap & Elles, with hosts Finn Love & Nubian D ‘til 4am.

Monthly outing for Bingo Babes! Back on the 23rd September at The Glory, hosted by Crystal Beth, Barbs! and Xnthony, and it takes place in the basement from 7pm.

Check out Mondays at The Glory basement too, where there’s a real hoo-ha going on over the next few months until the final on Sunday 21st; The Gold Rush is a drag competition with a trashy twist. Taylor Trash has begun the hunt for London’s next nugget of performance talent! Expect a celebrity judging panel every week and witness the crème-de-la-crème of talents emerging all over the place! Starts from 8pm on the dot dears, so get there early!

And don’t forget my darlings, I’m hosting The Retro Bar pub quiz every Tuesday in September. Come to Carry On Quizzing at around 8pm where Heidi Heelz joins me for a lot of lols! Plus you might win the rollover!
