Haunted house experience under fire for staging mock rapes of male visitors

Talk about being tone-deaf, and taking things way too far. Fright Fest at Kim Tam Park is under fire after several male visitors to the haunted house said they’d been made to take part in a mock rape scene as part of the experience.

When Ryan Carr took his girlfriend for a fun night of jump scares and kooky fun, little did he expect that he’d be left horrified at what Kim Tam Park in Akorn, Ohio would classify as entertainment. His girlfriend watched in horror as he was made to take part in a mock rape scene by a man in a pig mask.

Talking to their local news station, Fox 8, the couple expressed their anger at the night’s event. Carr explained:

“I’m walking by and the buy grabs me and throws me on the bed… My girlfriend walks over and says, ‘hey, what are you doing? That’s my boyfriend,’ and he says, ‘Not anymore. He’s mine now; I’m going go rape him,’ and then he started thrusting against me.”

The park is set out in six houses, three are ‘adults only’ and the others are for all ages. Carr says the incident took place in one of the all-ages haunted houses.

They weren’t the only ones to complain about the scene, with others taking to Facebook to complain that “it was 100 percent a rape scene”. Others also confirmed they’d experienced similar scenes in their time at the park.

A third person claimed they “grabbed [his] ankles and shins and pulled [his] legs apart” and then started “thrusting” while telling him to “scream papa”.

A mother told the local news station that her 16-year-old son had experienced something similar with a group of friends when they were in one of the all-ages houses. She explained:

“He was thrown onto a mattress by some guy in a pig mask… the guy was humping him, demanded he squeal like a pig.”

The mother, who works with rape survivors added: “this is not something that belongs in a haunted house”.

Managing partner of the event, Jeremy Caudill, says he was “shocked and appalled” by hearing what people had experienced during their time at Kim Tam Park and said that “employees who worked in the area where the incident allegedly occurred have been suspended while we investigate”.

Caudill stated the obvious in stating “rape is a horrible”, and went on to say “even a mock rape scene has no place as part of any entertainment. And it has no place at our park”.

Following the incident, the park released a statement on Facebook stating that ‘rape scenario isn’t something we thought up or made up, we are and have been looking into what happened’.
