23 Years of the Ku Group

KU are celebrating their birthday by doing what they do best – cute boys and champagne!

We here at QX love some group fun, and the Group Ku have been serving fab nights for 23 years. It’s that perfect age where you love a balls-to-the-wall night out and can finally afford to do it properly, and can still muster a mid-week mad one. It’s been another recordbreaking year for them across all of their venues, with all the refurbish and facelifts of a Real Housewife, so that they can carry on bringing the party all week long.

It’s been (almost) a quarter of a century of being right at the heart of the London gay scene, and they’re showing no signs of slowing down. They opened their doors for the first time on Charing Cross road back in 1995, the year Mel Gibson got all Scottish and Smashing Pumpkin were topping the charts, before jumping down to Leicester Square over a decade later. They then started popping up all over the place with Little Ku opening in 2011, She Soho opening in 2014 and The Light Lounge opening its doors a year later. Much like Madonna they’re in a constant state of reinvention, making sure to stay on the frontline of what is fresh, fun and fab on the London scene.

To celebrate their 23rd they’re going all out with a weekend of birthday bashes that is sure to remind you how crap yours was. Sorry ‘bout it…

Friday 7th December 7pm Sharp

Ku Bar, 30 Lisle Street

In the immortal words of Rebecca Black, you just gotta’ get down on Friday. They’re giving out FREE champagne to everyone who comes over to celebrate, where they’ll toast to the group that’s been the main source of their hangovers for the past few decades. Drag darling hostess Vicky Vivacious will be on hand to make sure you knock back those flutes, but don’t start climbing on your chairs when she starts shouting “bottoms up”.

Saturday 8th December 9pm Sharp

Little Ku, 25 Frith Street and She Soho, 23 Old Compton Street

“CHAMPAGNE, CHAMPAGNE FOR EVERYONE”, which we can only imagine being said in that Bubbles DeVere voice. Call us Bubbles darling, everybody does. Saturday night will be spent toasting away in the Little Ku which is Soho’s darling little gem of cuteness, and in Soho’s other diamond in the rough She. Your host will be the super cute Nieko who’s sure to turn the party, especially since every Ku venue will be open EXTRA late as part of the celebrations. There really is one place to be heading this weekend.  OH! And they’ll be giving away merch all weekend long.
