#JULIASAYS – Discerning scene musings from the princess of East London!

This week, we’re settling in to the pace of pre-christmas goings on…

There’s Loads of shows afoot, including How To Catch A Krampus – a festive and gothic tale over at the Pleasance Theatre I had the pleasure of seeing the other week. Created by Ginger Johnson with roles from Maxi More and Lavinia Co-Op and presented by those at Sink The Pink! It is MAJE!

Then there’s The Pale Blue Door dining experience with A Man To Pet, which has become somewhat of an institution. It’s a must for an alternative and quirky evening out! Laid on by set designer Tony Hornecker, expect lots of twisted festive cheer in-between yer meat and two veg! Starts Friday 7th December but check tonyhornecker.com for available dining dates.

Listen, I’m not taking over the cabaret column this week but there’s a fine line when The Glory arrive. Catch this double bill of talent at The Roundhouse over in christmassy Camden this week Introducing Margo & Top of the Flops on Friday 7th December. Jonny Woo has curated two works in progress starring Margo Marshall, who has created a biographical dance piece. Plus Top of the Flops starring George Hayworth form Bourgeois and Maurice fame and pianist Matthew Poxon, who have re-imagined long forgotten musical theatre gems.

Up at Dalston Superstore it’s Mints vol. 013 with DJs Savile (Smart Bar Chicago), Permanent Wave, Mama faye and regular hunz Super Drama. Taking place on Friday 7th December till 4am and hosted by the Mints Dance Troupe Lexy Kween and Puch Maxi!

Then, well, it’s all going on on Friday this week! Homostash Vauxhall Xmas Party at Eagle on the 7th December. As usual the theme is moustached with DJs Tafanik & Pavliné and our Fannar from 9 till 4am.

The pop-up that has stayed…The Chateau (29-33 Camberwell Church Street, SE5) hosts QUEER on Friday 7th December with Paul and Sam DJing an indie alt rock, disco set plus special guest Panos X. 9pm ‘til 3am. Head over for something different.

On the clubbing front, there’s Gay Garage #11 with Kele Le Roc doing a live PA on Saturday 8th December at club 512, 512 Kingsland Road – a must! With DJs Nimmo, Screens of Pleasure and Twice Shy. And it’s on from 10pm till 4am.

I love these bunches and at the home of the ultimate Power Brunch Dalston Superstore on Sunday 9th December Taylor Trash takes over with DJ Neil Prince playing a selection of – yes you guessed it – power ballads! From 12 midday till 4pm. Indulge yourselves!

I’m back for the forseeable future every Sunday at The Glory, my fave local!  Princess Julia LOVES, where every week I introduce new drag talent, play music and have a ramble! This week my guest is Shakona Fire on the 9th December. We end at 11pm so there’s still time to visit other hotspots including Horse Meat Disco over at the Eagle, which I often do! Ha ha…

Looking ahead, The ShayShay Show ~ Winter Magic on Tuesday 11th at The Glory from 7.30pm is a showcase of diverse talent from our underground scene, with YaYa Bones, Glamrou and introducing Bolly-Illusion, Haper Bizarre, Belkis and Avaava.

And in town I’ll be joining Christmas Quiz Night with Mrs Moore at the Retro Bar on Tuesday 11th December at 8pm for the final quiz of the year!

Well it’s not just Christmas we’re building up to…Jonny Woo’s All Star Brexit Cabaret on Monday 17th taking at The Coliseum is the ongoing culmination of Woo’s theatrical outing concerning a country in turmoil!

Ha ha, opinions abound as Jonny satirises the situation with an all star cast of performers including Le Gateau Chocolat, Myra Dubois and Jayde Adams. Showtime 7:30pm.
