04/08/13: Just a hop, skip and a dramatic twirl from the madness of Soho’s concrete catwalk lies a plush bar, with a Shakespearean inspired name but a very 21st century feel. Bar Titania – named, quite aptly, after the ‘queen of the fairies’ from ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ – is nestled on Charing Cross Road, offering a range of live music and cabaret nights throughout the week.

We popped along on a balmy ‘midsummer night’ last week to check out Sunday’s ‘Birdcage at Titty’s’. After lining up the cocktails (the frozen margaritas are divine) we settled ourselves down for the entertainment, provided by Cookie Monstar, who is filling Mzz Kimberley’s slot for four weeks, and vocalists, Chris Royal and Andrea Gorse. Cookie was on fine form as ever, showing her versatility with a range of musical numbers and styles; she even sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to one lucky chap… in Mandarin!

Having a good nose around we just loved the beautiful and varying decor, which makes the venue feel almost like three bars within one. The front area of the ground floor -the heaviest lit – boasts an extravagant chandelier that catches the eye as you enter, as well as a piece of very striking, specially commissioned, spray paint, wall art (the Bar Titania emblem) that you can’t help but marvel at. Further back the lights are low for an even more relaxed feel. Upstairs is pure lounge fabulousness; offering luxurious sofas, candles and a warm homely feel. A place where you can imagine reclining elegantly whilst someone peels you grapes and nibbles your earlobe (in our dreams). It’s all so decadent, darling.

Before disappearing into the night we squeezed some gossip out of the lovely manager, who told us they plan to install an actual birdcage, which will be suspended from the ceiling!? We’re hoping it will be home to some sexy gogo dancers. We can’t wait! We’ll be back with a pocket full of Trill.
