Bear Hug

25/09/15: It had been a while since I’d gotten a bit rough and ready with my ursine brethren, so anticipation was high for the launch of Bear Hug at Bloc Bar.

Trying my best to disguise the fact that I’m the furthest thing from a bear possible (at the not so tender age of 27, I still struggle with anything more than a crop circle of stubble – #BearFail), I stumbled in from the cold to a warm reception of friendly faces and a free burger from Burger Bear. You know you’re in for a wild night if they have to feed you first. Donna Summer was the diva du jour music wise – disco classics all round (pass the poppers!). You’d be forgiven for thinking that Grace Jones or Brooke Shields were about to skulk in, before de-robing and showing us all a camp old time (or just their nipples). Unfortunately, there was no attempt to #FreeTheNipple, but that didn’t stop the crowd having a kiki… until the free wristband for East Bloc was given out and all you could see the rest of your weekend disappear in front of your eyes before realising that it’s Tuesday and you’ve forgotten your own name.
