Bedsit Boys

24/01/14: Friday kicked off the weekend with a new beat on the street – nu disco that is. Club visionary Robb White’s Bedsit Boys took up residency at Kazbar, Clapham Common’s cozy club of hip locals, fresh faces and hardworking he-men, grr. Ringside Robb and the delectable DJ Eduardo Herrera shook up the folks “down the common” with funky rhythms and soul-searing heights of nu-disco and house.

Kazbar looks like your friendly corner local, until the dance floor lights up and the spotlight hits and it turns into boogey wonderland! Dynamic DJs White and Herrera tag-teamed
the decks with non-stop funk that had even the most dance-shy punter leave his pint for a chance to bust a move.

Then the seas parted as god’s own heavenly choir mistress, disco diva Carol Jiani descended the stairs and swept through the congregation draped in voluminous black silk as she belted out her hits including ‘Hit and Run Lover’ and her new single ‘No More’ from a summer release album. Carol is also featured in the new book out now about the good ol’ days of disco: ‘First Ladies of Disco’.

The packed house crammed the floor, the stairs and the mezzanine straining to watch an original soul-sister take ‘em all to church. Kazbar owner, Craig scored a winning combination with Bedsit Boys and Carol Jiani. “Carol is a dear friend and I’ve known her for years. And I love Bedsit Boys!” Looks like Clapham Common got some “nu boys” on da block. Howdy boys!
