22/03/13: It’s no secret that we have a soft spot for that East End bastion of cabaret and hot scally totty the White Swan, so when given the opportunity to cover a charity night there with more of the scene’s best drag acts than you find on the Heath of a summer’s evening, we just couldn’t say no.
Much like the aforementioned drag acts! Due to a last minute withdrawal (oo-er missus) the mighty Dave Lynn stepped in as host and compere to a fabulous line up that included Sandra singing ‘Hava Nagila’ and the velvet-throated Lady Imelda who gave us her ‘This Is My Moment’ whilst balancing a pint pot on her head and collecting money.
Boy-singer PJ Taylor plugged his new single, Rose Garden attracted her usual front row of pocket fiddlers (in fact one guy actually got his out!) as well as duetting with ‘Star In Their Eyes’ star Phil Lawrence and much was raised by bucket shaking and a raffle all in aid of Cancer Research UK. Top night, top cabaret and a top cause – well done White Swan!
