22/06/12: After a hectic week and the recovery from the fantastic Lovebox festival weekend, it was back down to terra firma for me as I found myself heading back east to BJ’s White Swan, not knowing what the turnout would be.
Fingers crossed someone would turn up and give support to the tremendous Miss Kandi Kane, and I would have some cute boys and gals to ‘shoot. We needn’t have worried… this eternally popular local boozer-cum-club-cum-cabaret spot continues to be a people puller! The buzz amongst the crowd was increasing and it was nearly showtime.
Kandi Kane graced the stage, blonde, bold and brassy, she appeared to rapturous applause. Starting off with a lil’ Shirley Bassey, then gliding slickly into her routine, I must say she sure has got some sharp wit and an even sharper tongue. Some of the poor audience found themselves on the receiving end, all in good fun of course.
Moving swiftly on and a couple of quick costume changes later, she gave us her spot-on Cher and Lady Gaga impersonations – check them out at charliehidestv.com. Quick change again, and it was ribbing time for various artists including Madge.
In her infamously fabulous, dark and twisted way Kandi had the crowd in stitches. Excellent material from a truly talented performer! After a sensational show, we made our exit, leaving the crowd to dance the rest of the night away.
