Comptons Of Soho

Comptons Of Soho

13/05/17: Despite stubborn empirical evidence, British fans of Eurovision can’t seem to be able to give up hope. Sweetest hope. On Saturday, scores of the poor blighters flooded the normally O so butch Comptons with unusual levels of campness to watch this year’s edition of the annual debacle. Screens had been deployed on both levels of the venue for their special enjoyment. Against all post-brexit-referendum expectations, however, the UK was (mostly) spared humiliation and Lucie Jones’ O so ironic “Never Give Up On You” actually came 15th, a marked improvement on recent achievements we are told. Those more interested in a good time than the geo-politico-musical machinations on screen were, no doubt gladly, able to enjoy the ministrations of Comptons’ team of comely bar staff under the direction of the blue-eyed James Bartlett. And, in case anyone cares: Portugal won. Although you could have been mistaken to think, looking at our social media timeline, that the winner was in fact the hot stuff from Israel! At least the social climate for visiting fans will be less insalubrious next year. O so groovy!
