19/12/15: The force awakened just south of Vauxhall bus station as Back Counter Lounge hit warp speed for three days of light sabre-rattling thrills ‘n’ spills with a pre-seasonal escape to the planet Tatooine. Recreating notorious Star Wars watering hole, Mos Eisley Cantina, in the heart of the Vauxhall Village, QX perfected our fashion-forward Princess Leia chignons on Saturday night as a throng of hunks and homos arrived from across the Empire for rocket-boosted wassailing at one of the snazziest hangouts in the universe. Highlights saw the galaxy-bestraddling QX posse sampling a dazzling constellation of fabulous themed cocktails, taking in the tantalising Tattooine Twist, Darth Maultini and Qui-Gon Gin – not to mention delectable non-alcoholic varieties, Yoda Soda and Hoth Chocolate. Elsewhere there were evil doings on the piano from Darth Vader’s lesser-known musical cousin, Darth Duncan Day, inciting an intergalactic knees-up with showtunes and cabaret standards galore. Meanwhile, Counter’s very own hot Hans Solo joined Boba Fett behind the bar, dispensing secret-recipe mulled wine and tasty nibbles as the interstellar antics continued through ‘til death-defyingly late!
