DOWN
Posted on March 14, 2012
02/03/12: A month on from it’s relaunch as Blitz Bar, and it’s kudos to the new look 10 Adelaide Street for being worth veering off the beaten track that is Old Compton Street.
Tucked away down in Charing Cross, though only a bassline away from Heaven, it takes a special bar indeed to pull the masses from Soho. Friday night saw Blitz Bar’s weekly ‘Down’, a collaboration between the owners and Logan Presents.
Promising burlesque-style stage shows, there wasn’t a great deal of flesh on show when we arrived, but cute barman Andrea still got us reclining into a cocktail glass ala Dita Von Tease. Blitz certainly looks the part.
Victorian gothic gentleman’s club with an industrial twist, the take on a member’s bar with Chesterfields, Margaritas and Latin house separates it from some of the Abercrombie-fied Soho bars as much by location as by style. With some promising DJs lined up and the word of mouth spreading, we’re looking forward to more reasons to get Down at Blitz Bar in the future.
