23/11/11: Twenty years of the legendary Halfway II Heaven being a bonafide, ‘boys-own’ watering-hole were celebrated in true Glam Jam style last Thursday!
Lady Imelda and CJ donned the slap, and proceeded to hit high notes on the honky-tonk like it were the divas’ last day on earth.
The night was divided into two showcases, the usual outrageous glam affair and, after a brief pause for audience members to catch their breath, songs from Phantom of the Opera.
‘Miss Marple’s Pussy’ was the first musical number to rouse the wanton men-in-sitting, and from there on out, guests took to the stage delighting and scandalizing us with their choice of ditty.
If you’ve never been to Halfway before then you’re missing a treat. It’s a real local pub with a community vibe where everyone’s welcome – especially wearing a wig and a boa. If life is a cabaret, long may this alehouse last! Happy Birthday Halfway – here’s to twenty more years!
