08/08/2015: The Greenwich Street Party is quite simply one of the highlights of the calendar year for Greenwich (scratch that, London).
I mean, it’s the one day of the year where tall drag fantastics in all colours and outfits belt it around the town centre in the Michael Joyce Charity Drag Race. This year did not let us down. The crowd was heaving, packing every square inch of the streets around Ye old Rose and Crown then later filling up the George and Dragon for the after party. There was Sandra on stage giving it to the crowd, Baga Chipz in the wings ready to go on and continue the debauchery, not to mention other class acts like CK, Lola, Miss Jason, Tanya Hyde, and the amazing Kelly Wilde. Before we knew it the race was on, with all contestants called up and in position. With a whip of a lash and a dash of lippy they were off, racing around like bats outta hell. Amazingly, they all managed to finish the course, with the crowd loving every minute. What a great day! Thanks Ye Old Rose and Crown, see you next year.
