21/11/10: Last Sunday, Halfway hosted the mother of all birthday bashes. Not only did the venue celebrate 19 years on our fabulous gay scene, but Karl the Manager, Drag Idol 2010 winner Baga Chipz, and regulars Sami and Nigel joined forces to celebrate their birthdays, too. And what an amazing, jam-packed bash it was! Hosted by the delightful CK performing the creme of their repertoire, guests included Rose Garden, Mrs Moore, Trindy, Morag McDuff, Peaches from Wales and Alexsys St Clair, in a dragtastic show that ticked all the boxes. There was also a dedication to the late Terry Tucker, a previous legendary landlord, with a presentation of a pub bust (named St Theresa, naturally) from Nigel to the pub, to reside at the end of the downstairs bar, as Terry used to. After much champagne, birthday shots and many birthday cakes, it was onto the second dragstravaganza of the evening. Celebrating her last appearance for a while at H2H, the wonderful Tanya Hyde gave us a glimpse of her forthcoming panto role as Snow White at the Leicester Square theatre before Baga Chipz, resplendent in a new ‘do, rounded off the evening as only she knows how. Happy Birthday everyone and congratulations on an amazing day… spare liver anyone?
