KU BAR - 15TH BIRTHDAY

KU BAR – 15TH BIRTHDAY

10/12/10: The QX party posse made tracks for the West End as Ku Bar celebrated fifteen fantastic years on the scene with an action-packed birthday bash last Friday.  It was a frosty December in 1995 when Ku first threw open the doors on Charing Cross Road – John Major was still prime minister, Brit Pop was all the rage and us QX girls were barely out of our training bras. The Ku brand has come a long way since then, moving to new flagship premises on Lisle Street, opening a second branch in Soho and recruiting the likes of Dusty O, Boogaloo Stu and Lady Lloyd, plus some of the best DJ names in London, making this one of the hottest destinations in town.  Things were certainly flying when we visited, with a hyped-up crowd gearing up for the party season by making the most of Ku’s very reasonable booze taxes – speaking of which, refreshments were served up by a bevy of gun-slingin’ cowboy bar-studs rockin’ birthday Stetsons.  And with the proceedings continuing ‘til the small hours there was still plenty more fun to be had at one of the capital’s fave hangouts!
