KU CANDY BOYS LAUNCH NIGHT

KU CANDY BOYS LAUNCH NIGHT

01/03/11: I know, how ironic that the postcode to a lesbian bar has the initials BJ in it… oh am I on? Sorry… Ladies, gentlequeens and fellow trashbags, lend me your Britney Spears. We’re about to travel into another dimension – a strange world where lesbians go to Ku Bar and gay boys go to Candy Bar. Only it’s not a parallel universe, it’s Tuesday night! Whilst the newly paint-licked Ku Lisle Street has been handed over to the girls, Ku Candy becomes a spanking new haven for the fellas. Last Tuesday, we headed over to the non-lesbian opening to flirt with pretty boys and arm twist some Soho secrets out of a stunning, candy-themed Vicki Vivacious – honestly, she’s so tight-lipped that one, you can’t get any gossip out of her…

The long bar on the main floor is perfect for a sashay up and down to flirt with a plethora cuties, who were getting into the dyke vibe by ordering pints of Stella. Upstairs is a gorge den for more laid back chattage – although, I had to send my assistant up there. I’m forbidden to climb stairs in public due to my new role as the face of Stannah stairlifts. The night just flew by, and after a few hours of pure laughter everyone poured downstairs (high as a kite on the free sugary treats scattered around) to watch the delectable trio of DMS, DouGuim and Sharif stir up some pop delights behind the decks. They definitely stirred something in me.

We’ve noticed that a certain other free weekly gay mag that I can’t say the name of (rhymes with toyz) often quotes the bar owners. So here’s what gaffer Gary Henshaw had to say to us:

“Stop stealing other people’s drinks and get the feck out of my bar you freeloading hack trash…”

And quite right too. Fab bar and a fab night – you must make this your Tuesday evening destination!
