MOLLY MOGGS

01/03/12: There is no disputing that Julie Paid is an institution. Not in the “place for the care or confinement of individuals” way, but in the “esteemed and revered establishment” way.

But it takes a trip to Molly Moggs on a Sunday to really appreciate her skill, polish and superb delivery. With drag and cabaret classics like ‘I Am What I Am’,  ‘I Will Survive’, an Abba medley and Baccara’s ‘Yes Sir, I Can Boogie’, the songs were not unknown to us, but when performed through that red-rimmed, pert, potty mouth with ad libs, audience participation and lyric meanderings, they were lapped up by the packed bijoux East End boozer in the heart of Soho.

And in true East End blitz spirit, it took a steel resolve to complete 5 hours on stage, but she still managed a rousing knees-up finale of ‘We’ll Meet Again’. Even after the show, with a sound track that included Xanadu and Voyage Voyage, it was impossible not to sing along and have fun. Molly Moggs ROCKS big time.
