NEW BLOOMSBURY SET

13/10/12: Never ones to leave a stone unturned in search of good time, we decided to check out the New Bloomsbury Set bar, conveniently located about two minutes from Russell Square tube station, last Saturday for the first time.

As you arrive you get the immediate feeling that you’re in an eccentric friend’s living room. Even better, this friend has a lot of attractive male friends – we wondered if we’d found the place where we would one day find a husband! There’s also a row of doors that each lead to a cubby hole – for if you do indeed find said potential husband and need a bit of private romance time!

An old friend, Barbara Bush, was behind the decks giving us all her usual campness, and her eclectic music style was clearly keeping the patrons happy. After a quick chat with her we were introduced to the NBS owner, Jez, who, we have to say, may be one of the friendliest new faces we’ve met in a while. Most importantly the drinks are reasonably priced – and strong!

No weak-ass, diluted down cocktails here. Huge kudos to NBS – we shall definitely be returning.
