NEW BLOOMSBURY SET

18/02/12: Now, I’m no stranger to the gorge surrounds of New Bloomsbury Set, but it had been far too long since I headed over to one of my favourite bars.

So, tonight, it was time to get the ‘gurls’ together and cause some trouble! With designer knock-off handbags swinging in the wind, full to bursting with Lambert and Butler Menthols, poppers and a fresh pair of knickers (“just in case”), we sashayed up to the little basement bar where everybody knows your name, yet can’t remember it come closing time, for a very special celebration.

Yes, lovely guv’nor Jez was celebrating his birthday in style. 21 again, there’s not many a bar owner who gets as involved and in on the action as he does. Tonight was certainly a testament to that, as it was also the first time the bar has done a cabaret evening and Jez was on the mic before the clock struck 10!

There was no better way to kick off the live entertainment rosta than with the fabulous Son ofa TuTu. We’ve watched this divine ‘illegal immigrant’ grow, make us laugh and steal our wallets ever since last year’s Drag Idol and we couldn’t be more proud of her.

The already delightfully chipper atmosphere of the bar was absolutely electric by the end of the set, and there was even time for a rousing Whitney tribute as TuTu and Jez (Sounds like a dodgy law firm) performed ‘Saving All My Love For You’ with the entire bar joining in. An absolutely spectacular night. Stay tuned for more live entertainment and gorgeousness from the Bloomsbury babes.
