Opening Doors London

09/03/14: QX channelled Virginia Woolf and E.M. Forster amidst the literary-themed splendour of New Bloomsbury Set as the Marchmont Street landmark urged its urbane clientele to support Opening Doors London last Sunday.

Aiming to meet the needs of vulnerable over-50s in the LGBT community with a range of services including befriending, social groups and activities, sadly, a large chunk of ODL’s funding will be coming to an end in April with the charity desperately needing to make up the shortfall.

So, what better way to show our appreciation for what the previous LGBT generation fought for – and achieved – than with a regular monthly donation?  On hand were the ODL ‘ambassadors’, armed with direct debit forms, to rustle up some financial commitment (£5 a month – the price of a drink) amongst the generous throng.

Meanwhile, there was plenty more to keep the crowd occupied, with delightful DJ sounds, beguiling bar staff and a bijou ambience that keeps the New Bloomsbury Set regulars coming back week after week.

Here’s to one of the capital’s loveliest watering holes and one of London’s worthiest of LGBT charities – we hope you get the all cash you need.  To donate to Opening Doors London go to http://openingdoorslondon.org.uk/donate-now/
