21/07/12: Was it really five years ago that there were rumours of a shiny new golden palace of buff tings and hot tuneage to be plonked in the heart of Soho?
I wouldn’t know, I’m barely 21… ahem… anyway, the rumours were true and Profile bar flung open its doors, initially on Frith Street, it soon moved to join it’s larger, louder and later bigger brother Lo-Pro over on Wardour Street.
That turned out to be a genius move, as the double shot of homoxual clubbin’, drinkin’, and dinin’ pleasure has really been doing the business in recent times. So, it was only fitting that as soon as we heard the sound of a champagne cork pop, the QX massive were over there faster than Rebecca Brooks pressing a voicemail delete button.
It was great to see faces who have been with the Profile family since almost the start, such as the ever-lovely Jonny Hooley, who was just as fun, fabulous and friendly last weekend as he was during one of my first ever QX reviews at Profile all those years ago.
The stalwarts intermingled with the newbies, a plethora of fitster bar boys and a truck load of Saturday night revellers, many of whom had sashayed down especially for the anniversary.
Being the freeloading whores we are, we gotta say the complimentary canapés and cocktails were top draw… we were yamming those burgers down like no-one’s business. And after a raspberry daiquiri or seven, we staggered out into that good night satisfied in every way. Well done Profile – a wicked night!
