The Glory

01/04/16: Who better to have a launch party for ‘Super’, the Pet Shop Boys newest album, than the Glory, one half of the group’s local pub?!

Holestar, Sizzle, and A Man To Pet (in a hilarious meter tall striped hat, white body stocking and foamcore sun-blockers) gave a tribute show and presided over giveaways of the new CD and other merch, whilst spinning all-PSB, all night.

The top floor was absolutely rammed with rabid fans, including Poly Amorous twirling around and looking glorious in a floor length gold sequin gown.

Downstairs, the newly re-designed club (look out for the new plush pleather booths and camp neon lights) had Chris Camplin and Terry Vietheer spinning all the sexiest of disco to boogie to.

Toward the end of the night, the basement was heaving with boys (and a few girls) grooving to one of the best disco sets I’ve heard in a while.

Popping out for a cigarette, I spotted the ever-glam Princess Julia, in a camp sequin blazer, floor length skirt and a sassy gold heel, holding court in the smoking garden. All in all, a super-enjoyable Friday night send-up for a massively influential band at one of my favourite queer-owned pubs.
