The Victoria

15/02/14: East End’s favourite weekday blokey local slapped on a bit o’ lavender and lace for its weekend fling to the pink side of the moon.

The Victoria on (ahem) Hoe Street in Walthamstow played host to a proper Valentine’s knees up with the voice of thousands, Drag With No Name, who had them rolling in the aisles and waving in the air as she sang, danced and joked her way through a powerhouse midnight set of songs and laughs.

Manager Marc Major opened a Valentine’s card to his loyal punters and out spilled DWNN’s Madonna, Cher, Edna, Tina and Adele! “Just my way of saying ‘I love you’ to the hardest partying crowd in E17,” he said. There was even a special surprise performance by “the King” himself, Elvis in the guise of 70th birthday boy David Rogers singing duets (and dueling wigs!) with Tina for a birthday he and fellow candle-blower Vera, will never forget. A shoulder-mountin, heel-kickin, wig-snatchin, roof-raisin night topped off by a birthday cake in the face to DWNN’s best frienemy!

A free buffet courtesy of David Roger’s missus, Sonia, 27, radiant in her towering brunette coif and shimmering mini-dress, generous servings at the bar by Mr. Major and Mickey DJ at the decks kept the party hardy til 3am. Backstage, DWNN declared, “Having conquered Walthamstow, I’m pointing my bra at the US and working on a new character, a certain Canadian bad-boy. So, look out Yanks, DWNN may be headed your way!”
