The Yard

01/07/16: One of Soho’s oldest and best-loved venues, the Yard is always packed full of city boys, cute twinks, super studs and their friends.

The lovely Joel Ryder popped down this weekend to capture that fun. Don’t forget, the Yard still needs your help to stave off developers! The Yard is currently being evaluated by Historic England for listed building status.

If it can gain this listed status, it is very unlikely that the developers will be able to get planning permission for a scheme that would destroy much of the building’s heritage and cause the loss of the open-air courtyard.

This is our last chance to tell Historic England why The Yard is important and they need your help. Pride of Place is Historic England’s initiative to help map and document LGBTQ history and heritage across the country.

They need you to add what love about The Yard, together with your personal experience no matter how recent or old these may be.

Whether you have been going to The Yard since it opened in 1993 or are a new frequenter this is your last chance. Share your memorable experiences at Pride of Place!
