Two Brewers

18/01/15:  Sunday nights at the Two Brewers, south London’s home of drag cabaret, have become legendary with no less than three top drag queens entertaining the masses every week.

We popped along on a cold, wintery January evening to see the magic formula at work as, in true Shakespearian style, three witches came together to weave song, story telling and laughter in to a shimmering veil of entertainment.

This evening’s meat feast in the middle was the vocal acrobat La Voix with a musical theatre set chosen by the audience that included Cabaret, Grease, Rocky Horror, Les Mis and Wicked, and like some of the best Sunday spit roasts we have been to, she was top and tailed by a Brighton Belle.

Opening the night was the divine Miss Jason with her more traditional repertoire and NAAFI humour of double entendre. Bringing up the rear was the big talent, in a smaller more petite body since her diet, of Miss Lola Lasagne looking resplendently fresh as a blond.

With a fluid assortment of characters appearing, depending on illness and other commitments, The Power Of Three is a guaranteed good night out with no two sets ever being the same, and it’s all over by the pumpkin hour so there is (almost) no excuse not to be at work the next day.
