Two Brewers

21/12/14: The London Gay Big Band are truly going from strength to strength and bringing fresh and fabulous jazz back to popularity and the masses.

Since their formation only three years ago they have performed at some of the highest profile events and venues in the country including World Pride 2012, the main stage as part of the London 2012 Olympics, the Lord Mayor’s Show and of course, on ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent with La Voix. But last Sunday they came back to their spiritual home the Two Brewers for the final of their X-Mas Factor to find a new vocal talent to front the band.

Literally hundreds of applicants were whittled down to 12 finalists for the live show where they sang a diverse set that included ‘Crazy Little Thing Called Love’ (Stewart Thurlow), ‘Broadway Baby’ (Lauren Shields), ‘Nature Boy’ (Mike Newman) and the seasonal ‘Santa Claus Is Coming To Town’ (Murat Seyfi). After some serious judgement from Amy Lamé, Rachel Weston, Ian Massa-Harris and the Gay Big Band’s Stefan Doering, three made it through to the sing off with their second song, but it was Pink Singer Lara de Belder who won over the audience with her amazing rendition of ‘Big Time’ securing here an exclusive vocalist contract with the band.

The Two Brewers was absolutely packed for the whole fabulous evening, the 20-piece LGBB were rehearsed to perfection and La Voix was a brilliant host. All in all it was the perfect pre-Christmas musical extravaganza with every one of the 12 finalists being offered a spot on one of London Pride’s stages in 2015.
