Who’d have though that when 79CXR swung it’s doors open in the Spring of ‘94 that it’d still be still rocking to the rafters eighteen years on.

01/12/11: 79CXR pulled out all the stops this World Aids Day with over four hours of entertainment and fundraising for HIV charity The Food Chain, which provides access to tailored nutritional services for those living with HIV in the UK.

21/10/11: The hottest new double act to hit the scene, Bette Rinse and Mary Mac, lit up the 79CXR stage last Friday with a special ‘Rinse out your haggis’ show, for manager Michael’s birthday.

23/09/11: Late last Friday night I found myself being sent to one of London’s newest cabaret venues, 79CXR, and I was greeted by a bar rammed full of merry West End boys all awaiting drag superstar Rose Garden to launch herself onto the stage, and she did it in style.

28/08/11: Here at QX we love our Bank Holidays, and nothing says Bank Holiday like a camp charity version of Blankety Blank, raising money for GMFA.

10/07/11: Charing Cross Road was the scene for much frenzied activity as 79CXR played host to the grand final of Bette Rinse’s Prize Karaoke contest last Sunday.

30/06/11: Sandra does it again! This time at 79 CXR, she certainly knows how to massage your funny bones (everyone of them, lol).

28/05/11: Clocking up an impressive seventeen years at the very heart of the West End gay scene, 79CXR still packs in the crowds on a Saturday night.

03/04/11: For my 17th birthday I got dolled up to go out, drink, gyrate, pounce on anything that moved and then, after inhaling a kebab, throw it back up - spending the night in any appropriate gutter.

01/12/10: World AIDS Day is, of course, a huge event in Soho - almost as busy as Pride in terms of reporting all the different events that take place on our diverse scene. So, when you’re hopping from bar to bar and your thirst is thoroughly quenched, you don’t half need to piss a lot.
