GIGOLO

19/05/11: It seems that Thursday nights are becoming the new evenings to be seen out and about these days, and now new kid on the block ‘Gigolo’ has come to join the party at Soho institution Lo-Profile. Set up by fashion and club photographers ‘shootmeup.co.uk’, the opening night was packed with men and boys from all over the scene anxious to see what the weeks of promo and build-up was about. The door had gone guest-list only by midnight! Inside was the usual ambient atmosphere of this sexy Soho basement club, complemented by Horse Meat Disco’s DJ Luke Howard playing the upbeat disco beats (‘Young Hearts Run Free’, anyone?) and little insouciant touches such as ‘Gigolo’ written in electric blue neon upon one wall. At 1am there heralded a live PA by former Dead or Alive bassist Jeyjon who looked fabulous in stage make-up and exotic costume, and sounded just as good. His nod back to 80s glamour and glory summed up what will no doubt prove a wholly welcome addition to Thursday night club-land.
