03/10/15: Can you believe that mega club night Beyond has been gracing and deliciously disgracing the London club scene for 13 years already?
To celebrate this anniversary and to ward off any possible bad luck, the night had taken over the venerable Coronet in Elephant and Castle. Decked in the most whimsical petticoats and frocks, the night was placed under the protection of Alice. And a true wonderland it was: the busy scruffy bunny, the leather-clad mad hatter, the ripped Cheshire cat, the Queen of heart and her hunky henchmen, Alice herself, all were in attendance, gyrating to the tunes dished out by Beyond’s resident DJs for the visual pleasure of a room packed with shirtless muscle boys, some of them having yielded to the propositions of the face-painting artists available at the entrance. A rabbit hole of a room was also available in a nearby railway arch for a darker musical mood. All too soon however it was time to abscond, a grin on our lips and spring in our step, to Beyond After-hours at Ministry of Sound for the second part of this curiousest of evenings.
