22/12/12: Still an event very much in infancy, with only two dates in session before this one – the Blocheads warehouse all-nighters have proved, all the same, to be somewhat of a whopping sensation.
Perhaps it’s the atmospheric, open-plan dance floors doused in deep red light, or the streamline selection of far deeper house on spin – a Kryptonite of sorts to the discerning gay clubber.
Whatever it is, two of East London’s most successful gay promotion teams combined have struck gold – and it was sparkling in full effect for the night’s first festive bash. Before anyone had knocked back their glass of Christmas spirits the studio walls were rocking with the steady influx of eligible East-enders – well, all-enders, and their compadres.
There was nothing left to do but drink and be merry – and as everyone knows the twain go hand-in-hand – the men moved from bass-line to bass-line and back to the bar in equal measure, with DJ legends like Pagano and Hannah Holland ensuring the Christmas chill was shaken out of our bodies before alarming levels of Christmas cheer began to set in.
True to form, it was only a matter of time before the crowd was bucking and writhing, with a select few getting more than their mistletoe’s worth, backs pressed against the speakers and lips on lock.
