11/10/15: As of this month, hardcore clubbers who won’t quite face the prospect of going home and dance floor aficionados in an abusive relationship with their alarm clock have a new afternoon retreat to call home.
BOOM! has taken explosive residence in the intimate newly refurbished mirror arch at Fire, festooned with multicolour bunting and giant audio cassettes for the occasion.
Like fireworks, the lasers and strobes ignited the mixed crowd of twinks, muscle boys and bears out for a good time, carefree in its energetic enjoyment of the pumping house distilled by Steven Artis and his fellow DJs.
Other revellers, perhaps coming from sister after-party Beyond, were inclined to while away the still-balmy autumnal afternoon slumped on the welcoming sofas of the relaxed and friendly covered chill-out area in the courtyard outside.
BOOM! will be back on Sunday 1st November. Spooky.
