BROMANCE

BROMANCE

01/04/11: Did you know, the term ‘bromance’ has made the dictionary? Defined as, “a close but non-sexual relationship between two men, a form of homosocial intimacy” – ok, so it’s the Wikitionary online. My media lecturer at university chastised me for quoting Wikipedia in a dissertation – and here I am doing it in my “career”. Ha! Take that, Terri. But back to Bromance the club night, and it certainly lived up to its name of polysexual love. The very mixed crowd of gays, straights and lesbians were lapping up the uplifting house tuneage spun by DJ Marty and Jay Jayman. The atmosphere was irresistibly electric, as Vauxhall and East London collided right in the heart of King’s Cross. In fact, we never thought we’d see the day when the ‘Vauxhall mafia’ tottered north of the river to strip off their shirts in a postcode that doesn’t begin with S. But they did, and judging by the jubilant vibe and attitude-free clubbage playing out at the Driver, they’ll surely be back. Addison and Alice did a storming live performance and, whilst it was initially a little bizarre havin’ a bump’n’grind in a venue with stuffed deer heads on the wall, it sure made for a more interesting party than some of the bare, concrete-walled rave-ups we’ve been to in our day. Come back soon Bromance… we wanna make your girlfriend jealous!
