CARPET BURN

CARPET BURN

11/12/10: Vauxhall’s Eagle was the place to be for lovers of 80s-themed flamboyance and pumpin’ party choons as QX hoofed it over to Kennington Lane last Saturday. Celebrating promoter Martyn’s birthday, special guest DJ Dave Kendrick of East End disco pile-up, Macho City, set sail for a hi-NRG voyage alongside stateside mix-maestro Kalifornia, that had the packed dancefloor rockin’ through the night. Onstage action came from Canadian ‘soccermom rockermom’ Stacey Jackson, dazzling the Carpet Burners with her latest single release, ‘I Am A Woman’, whilst the headline slot saw ‘Everybody’s Free To Feel Good’ star Rozalla channeling the spirit of 90s warehouse raves as if the poll tax riots and mad cow disease were but yesterday. Despite being halted mid-song by a malfunctioning backing track, the dance diva performed a fantastic set, including ‘Are You Ready To Fly?’ and ‘Faith (In The Power Of Love)’ that had the crowd going wild. Carpet Burn is back this Saturday… and be sure to get your tickets for the NYE Meltdown on Friday 31st December at Village Underground (54 Holywell Lane, Shoreditch, EC2A 3PO). Tickets available from Eagle, Dalston Superstore and Prowler!
