CLUB i

01/07/11: We kicked off our Pride weekend with a little nostalgia last week by dancing our butts off at Club i’s ‘Human League’ night at Factory 65 in Vauxhall. After last month’s brilliant launch night, this second instalment paid tribute to one of the best synth pop bands of our generation. In the main room residents Phil Marriott and Kate Way played the finest indie/alternative and 80s tracks, while over in room 2 guests Massimo Paramour and Jo The Waiter played a mash-up of darker, twisted electro and industrial sounds, and there was a sterling performance from Northern Kind (Matt Culpin & Sarah Heeley) with their synth-pop Yazoo-Erasure-Depeche Mode sound. A cool relaxed and friendly night, Club i is a welcome haven on the frenetic Vauxhall landscape. Next month (5th August) it’s ‘female icons’ night, so get your best Bjork, Kate and Suzie heads on.
