Duckie @ RVT

09/07/16: Having recently won support from the new Mayor of London in its ongoing fight against developers, the RVT has just reported the highest sales in its trading history.

This is good news and the popularity of the venue was very much in evidence this Saturday for this week’s edition of Duckie. Reaching its 21st year of existence, the club is a popular tale of the unexpected, and while this time no one ended up a stepladder pissing on stage, as per our introductory visit, this weekend’s programme of performances, introduced by the night’s matriarch, Amy Lamé, was as eclectic as you could expect.

Besuited american stand up comedian David Mills was making a pit stop on his way to the Edinburgh festival to spew his venomous wit onto a packed and appreciative audience. In possible keeping with a tenuous Scottish theme, Mills was followed, after an intermission of poppy tunes spun by the Wives, by a sauntering demonstration of Caledonian cavorting from the Gay Gordons.

This raised much cheer and clapping, and contributed greatly to the sort of genial merriment the faithful have come to love and cherish
